Online shopping malls have become very popular with thousands of shoppers going online to buy the products that they need. A new Internet site called AusCause.com.au now offers Australians a free membership that combines shopping discounts with automatic donations to the shopper’s choice of causes. Shoppers can now shop for their favourite products from brand name stores and a portion of their purchase will be donated to their favourite cause.
Each AusCause member can specify the cause which they want their shopping to support. The causes are added by AusCause members. New members are free to support an existing cause or can add their own special cause to the list.
The amount donated to the cause is based upon a percentage of the shopper’s purchase, not counting taxes, handling or shipping charges. With some merchants a flat-fee for a purchase is donated. Plus, AusCause is currently adding an additional $3 to the member’s cause if they make a purchase through the AusCause site within the first 45 days after signing as a member.
To increase the donations, members can invite their family, friends, co-workers to join AusCause, thus enlarging the donation community and expanding the benefit to more worthy causes.
When members add their own special cause, the name is added to the AusCause.com.au list. That member and anyone else can then specify their purchase credits to be applied to that cause. Members can add any charity providing that it is a legal entity and works for the common good. The causes are chosen by the AusCause members themselves and not by AusCause.
The AusCause.com.au site does not provide the actual shopping, purchase, shipping or any other service related directly to the sale. Merchants in the AusCause Shopping Mall offer a wide range of merchandise and services, both Australian and brand name stores that are known worldwide. The wide variety of merchants offer products and services that range from clothing and accessories to home goods, computer equipment and much more from reputable names. Among the popular brand names, a few are: Adobe software; Biatch Jewelry; Mydfo Fashion Outlet known for men’s and women’s branded clothing at 30 to 70% off; The Perfume Connection; Mozy Online Backup; The Nile, Australia’s largest online bookstore; iSelect; Vodafone; Body Candy Body Jewelry.
